The Upbeats Duo Summer Party Band

How to Book a Summer Party Band

Summer is peak season for live music — weddings, garden parties, festivals and corporate away-days all compete for the same weekends, which means good bands get booked up fast.

Book early

If you’ve got your eye on a date between May and September, the earlier you enquire the better. Popular Saturdays can be booked out six to twelve months in advance, especially for wedding season.

Think about your setlist

A good party band will take a few of your requests ahead of time and build a set around your crowd. Let your band know if there are songs you definitely want played — and just as importantly, anything you’d rather they skipped. There’s nothing worse than hearing the first few bars of your kryptonite song when you’ve just gotten on the dancefloor!

Ask about logistics

For outdoor summer events, ask your band what they need in terms of power, shelter and a backup plan for weather. Most bands won’t have a plan for wet weather, so it needs to be discussed well in advance… especially if your event is in the UK.

Check equipment and insurance

A professional act should bring their own PA system and lighting, and carry public liability insurance. Don’t be afraid to ask for proof — any reputable band will have it ready to send over.
